Fourth suspect arrested in investigation into theft from Drents Museum
Obdam - The police have arrested a 26-year-old man from Heerhugowaard in Obdam. He is suspected to have been involved in the theft of archaeological artifacts from the Drents Museum in Assen on Saturday 25 January. The police had already arrested three other suspects, all of whom are still in custody. The stolen Romanian treasures have not been found yet.

This fourth suspect who was arrested is in full restraint and is being questioned about his role in the theft. The police were able to arrest the man based on information that came up in their ongoing investigation. The suspect that was arrested today, is not the person who was seen in a hardware store in Assen, and of who the police previously released video footage. The police are still looking for that person and information that might lead to them.
Searches at various locations
After the arrest, the police conducted searches at various locations, including a garage in the municipality of Koggenland and a home in Heerhugowaard. Data carriers, two vehicles and clothing were seized for further investigation.
Investigation into stolen artifacts
The investigation into the theft of the artifacts is still ongoing. Amongst others, the criminal investigation unit and specialists are working on the case. Tracking down the stolen treasures is top priority. Extensive technical and tactical investigations have been conducted in and around the Drents Museum and investigations were carried out at other locations in Heerhugowaard, Alkmaar, Groningen, Assen and Rolde, among others. Moreover, various camera images have been retrieved and examined. This previously led to the arrests of three suspects.
