A passer-by reported that a car was on fire at around 8am. Emergency services immediately went to the car park and firefighters started extinguishing the fire. They soon found the man inside the car while extinguishing the fire, but their attempt to help was to no avail. How the fire started is under investigation. The police are considering several scenarios, including the possibility of a crime. A large-scale Investigation team has been deployed. That means that about 20 detectives are working on this investigation.

Rijksstraatweg car park

The car was found in a car park at Rijksstraatweg in Delfgauw. This is just behind the Ruyven petrol station along the A13 Li, in the direction from Rotterdam to The Hague. This is generally a fairly busy car park and is known to be a men's meeting place.
